Member Exclusive Event Write Up

04 June 2009 | Colm Quinn

Presentations from the Members Exclusive Event on "Sustainable Refurbishment of the Existing Housing Stock" are now online, along with the outcomes of the e-voting session on the day.

On 3rd June The Housing Forum held a Members' Exclusive Event on "Sustainable Refurbishment of the Existing Housing Stock". The event focused on three case studies from Andy Tookey of Baily Garner, Paul Greenwood of United House, and Paul Davies of Wates Living Space. Around 40 delegates took part.

We are very grateful to the following for their case study presentations on Greening the Existing Stock:

Paul Davies on behalf of Wates Living Space - Glastonbury House

Paul Greenwood on behalf of United House - Islington Eco House

Andy Tookey on behalf of Baily Garner - Notting Hill Housing Trust Low Carbon Refurbishment Initiative

After the presentations the audience were asked their opinions on which direction The Housing Forum’s future work on this subject should follow. There was strong support for using the Demonstration Project programme to take forward the agenda, but also for toolkits/benchmarking, influencing/campaigning, more events, and another year of the working group. Of the specific ideas put before the audience of developing models on occupancy and whole life costing, and lobbying for a Code for Sustainable Refurbishment, all had strong support.
