Raising Rural Issues

Many members attended The Housing Forum's East Of England in February and heard Adrian Maunders, Chief Executive of English Rural Housing Association give a well informed insight into the unique housing issues facing rural communities. ERHA have a development programme of over 1,000 units nationwide. Adrian has been involved in preparations for a CIH event on rural housing which will be of interest many of you.

This year the Chartered Institute of Housing is holding its Annual Rural Housing Conference in the South East. The venue is Loseley Park, near Guildford. The line-up of speakers includes Matthew Taylor MP, author of the report "Living Working Countryside".

The programme includes a visit to a new rural housing development by Forum Member, English Rural Housing Association. The development is in the village of Dunsfold in Surrey and includes environmentally friendly features such as ground source heat pumps.

The association is one of the leading rural housing providers working in the South East, South West and East of England. English Rural is the lead sponsor of the Conference. Adrian Maunders, Chief Executive said that "We are pleased to be sponsoring this important event to promote the cause of rural housing and welcome delegates to see our new homes in the nearby village of Dunsfold".
