The Process
The process map set out below is presented as a guide to facilitate a better understanding of the complete picture of the asset management process. Clicking on the orange boxes will bring up a checklist of tasks to be completed at that gateway in the asset management process.
The highlighted areas - strategic planning and project pre-programming - are those which we believe carry the most risk and the potential for consequent blockages in procurement and construction processes. The other area of risk is the balancing of estate needs against budget constraints.
These are therefore the areas on which this toolkit is focused. Working with stakeholders, leaders, exemplars in this area we have highlighted areas for improvement, and produced a model decision tree for future use of all those involved.
